FAQ

AM I A CANDIDATE?

Yes! I work with all adult populations, with the exception of severe mental illness. I support individuals where they are on a wide range of the health spectrum. This includes those who wish to enhance their overall well-being and step into a greater version of themselves, to those who are experiencing debilitating chronic conditions and everything in between. Most conditions are best supported with simultaneous treatment by other health care providers or mental health professionals. Our work together can provide a synergistic complement to the treatment you already have or plan to seek.

Sessions are remote, so as long as you have a strong internet connection, you can be anywhere in the world!

What conditions do you treat?

None! Health coaches do not diagnose, treat, or cure disease. As stated above we can work with clients as an unconditional support system to help navigate their journey while they are in the care of a physician/practitioner. Have you ever had a doctor give you a diagnosis and treatment plan but you come home feeling overwhelmed, not knowing how or where to begin? That’s where I come in. Even without a diagnosable condition, many coaching clients experience relief of pesky symptoms once balance is restored in their bodies and lives.

IS COACHING EVIDENCE-BASED?

Yes! The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching is partnered with the National Board of Medical Examiners and sets the standards for education and training (for approved schools). Health coaching is CDC endorsed, and its effectiveness in helping to improve conditions such as high blood sugar in diabetes patients and high blood pressure in patients with coronary artery disease has been demonstrated in various studies.

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT LIKE?

As coaching is client-led… you decide. Every person is a unique individual with a unique set of circumstances. While I believe that behavior change and physiological change require at least 3-6 months to reap the benefits, only you can know what is best for you. As Tony Robbins says, energy flows where attention goes. Whatever duration you chose to coach for, the commitment level must be high. This does not mean perfection, but it does mean attention and intention. You do the work. I’m your guide on the side.

DOES INSURANCE COVER IT?

Not yet, but we have reason to believe this will change soon. Health coaching is a relatively new, evolving, and expanding field, so some of our healthcare systems haven’t fully embraced it yet. We did have a huge win recently when the American Medical Association created category III CPT codes for health and well-being coaching. These are data collection and assessment codes to determine if/when it will move to category I which equals insurance coverage/reimbursement.

I’m in! Now what?

Those who are seriously interested in coaching with me may schedule a 30-minute complimentary “discovery call” through the scheduling tab. This includes a consultation and mini coaching session so you can get a taste of what it is like. If we both agree that it feels like a fit, we co-create our coaching agreement! This includes length of sessions, frequency of sessions, payment arrangement, possible duration of the coaching relationship and more!
