Welcome to Bodhicitta Wellness.

Health coaching for the heart, mind, & body.

What is Bodhicitta?

Pronounced bo-d-chee-ta. —Simply put, it means “awakened heart.” Bodhi means awake, and citta refers to the heart/mind. My favorite description of this beautiful Buddhist concept is by the brilliant Pema Chodron. She explains that Bodhicitta is a “longing to be completely free. Not to be bound by hopes and fears, not to be bound by habitual patterns and tendencies anymore.” Perhaps the most profound component of Bodhicitta is the strong desire to “wake up” and be of service to the world; to help other people and the planet. Whether you relate to this type of longing or not, we all have a contribution and your contribution matters.

Are your habitual patterns compromising the way you show up in the world?

A relationship based on unconditional positive regard + accountability with a coach may help!

What is a health coach?

Guidance and support

Do you want to make changes in your life or know you have room to improve your overall well-being but can’t seem to stick to your goals, or even know where to begin?

Do you have anyone in your life who is unconditionally supportive and nonjudgmental, can hold space for difficult emotions without being cheerlead-y, and is able to share helpful, objective feedback with you?

A health coach with appropriate education and training is adept in holding that safe, compassionate space and holding you accountable.

A health coach is a behavior change specialist who helps bridge the gap between your desires and taking real action steps, greatly increasing the chances that the changes you do make are long-lasting.

We help you identify blocks, resistance, and self-sabotaging patterns while uncovering, clarifying, and strengthening your intrinsic motivation aka your WHY. We let you dictate the agenda while we facilitate your thinking in the exploration process. This partnership produces beautiful new insights—or as I like to call them—nuggets of wisdom!

We empower you to take charge of your own health as the expert of your body and your life! We are not in an expert role dictating what you should or should not do, yet we possess a broad knowledge of health and wellness information that may help you navigate a variety of health concerns. The extent to which you tap into our wellness toolkit is entirely up to you!

integrative nutrition health coaching

As a certified graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I am trained to incorporate into coaching the idea that “everything we consider as nutrition is really just a secondary source of energy.” Our “primary food,” as IIN describes it, consists of the many areas of life that feed our soul and bring us joy. This includes social connection, expression of creativity, spirituality, home environment, fulfillment in career, and more. While life-giving nutrients are essential to our health, this alone is not enough to achieve true vibrancy of our being. A holistic approach means looking at the whole picture with our clients.

ADAPT Functional health coaching

As a graduate of the ADAPT Health Coach Training Program via the Kresser Institute, I have completed one year of training in coaching psychology, motivational interviewing, functional health and much more. I chose this course for secondary certification because of my strong belief in the power of functional medicine to get to the root cause of and prevent chronic disease. This training program prepares its students to work in a collaborative health care model with other practitioners such as functional or conventional medical doctors, nutritionists/dieticians, or acupuncturists. I sit for the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching exam in November 2023.
